Approach To Treatment

At our clinic, we specialize in helping people overcome anxiety and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) using evidence-based therapies. Our main treatments include Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT).

ERP is one of the most effective treatments for OCD. It helps you gradually face the situations or objects that trigger your anxiety, while also teaching you how to resist the urge to perform compulsive behaviors. Over time, this reduces anxiety and breaks the cycle of obsessive thoughts and compulsions.

CBT focuses on understanding and changing negative thought patterns that contribute to anxiety. It helps you develop healthier ways of thinking and learning tools, so you can manage anxiety more effectively in your everyday life.

Together, ERP and CBT provide powerful, research-supported tools that empower you to take control of your symptoms, improve your overall well-being, and make lasting changes.

Fees

The initial evaluation is $350, which includes a 90-120 minute structured clinical interview, review of your treatment history and relevant records, and initial contact with any other providers, when needed.

Following the evaluation, treatment services are billed at $180 for each 45-minute session. If a session is shorter or longer than 45 minutes, we will prorate the fee accordingly. This same billing structure applies to all professional services, including office sessions, scheduled or unscheduled phone calls, report writing or documentation requests, travel time (for home and community services), and professional consultations. For phone calls or report writing, the fee is $180 per 45 minutes, prorated in 5-minute increments based on the actual time used.

Payments are collected at the time of service, and we accept payment via debit card or credit card (MasterCard, Visa, Discover).

Cancellation & No-Show Policy

Cancellations of intake appointments made less than 72 hours in advance will incur a $100 fee.

For regular appointments, cancellations within 24 hours or no-shows will be charged the full session fee.

Insurance & Policies

The OCD & Anxiety Clinic of Kansas City is an out-of-network provider and does not accept insurance.

We are happy to assist you with the necessary paperwork to submit for out-of-network reimbursement from your insurance provider, should you choose to do so. If you intend to submit a claim to your insurance, we recommend reaching out to your provider beforehand to fully understand your out-of-network benefits.

The Benefits of Out-of-Network Therapy

* Personalized Treatment Plans: Develop a treatment plan tailored specifically to your needs, including the length, intensity, and type of therapy, based on clinical needs and evidence-based practices, rather than insurance company protocols.

* No Third-Party Involvement: Enjoy the privacy of not having to deal with third-party insurance companies for billing or paperwork, ensuring more control over your care.

* Greater Flexibility: Out-of-network services allow for more flexibility in treatment, such as unconventional session lengths and out-of-office sessions to better address your unique needs.

Under the No Surprises Act, you are protected from surprise billing if you're uninsured or choose not to use your insurance. As an out-of-network provider, I want to make sure you know that you are responsible for the full cost of services.

Mental Health Care & Treatment Duration
The length of mental health services can vary based on your needs, and it’s difficult to determine the exact duration in advance. You have the right to decide how many sessions you’d like to participate in. Before we begin treatment, I ask that you review the fee schedule for services typically offered. We will work together to determine the number of sessions you may need, and I will provide a Good Faith Estimate of the expected costs. We will regularly revisit your treatment plan and adjust the number of sessions as needed.

Your Rights Under the No Surprises Act
If you’re billed more than expected, you can dispute the charges with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) within 120 days. There’s a $25 fee for the dispute process.
